Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor is responsible to successfully supply and deliver Explosive Detection or Narcotics Detection Canines to the Port Authority Police Department (“PAPD”) on an as needed basis. The specifications set forth in this Request for Quotation (RFQ) is to describe the type of Police Single-Purpose Canine, the duties to be performed, the health requirements of the Canines, the qualification and selection process, the guarantees required by the Contractor and the replacement process. • The Police Canines shall be between fifteen (15) and twenty-four (24) months old at time of selection. • All female dogs will be spayed. • The PAPD is requires Single-Purpose Canines. • The Contractor must provide only imported European Canines as German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois breed of Canine which shall be selected and be accepted by the PAPD. • Health: The Contractor warrants that on the date of delivery, the Police Canine(s) will be in good physical condition capable to perform the duties it has been selected for. The Contractor further warrants the general good health of the animal for a period of one (1) year from the date of delivery to the PAPD. The Police Canine will have already been seen by the Contractor’s veterinarian. Upon delivery of the Police Canines, the Contractor will provide to PAPD all documented veterinary records including but not limited to shots, X-Rays of elbows, hips, and shoulders. The PAPD will retain the right to have its own veterinarian examine the animal within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the Police Canine to verify the animal's health. • The Contractor will further warranty the Police Canine against genetic defects for two (2) years from the date of receipt by the PAPD. In the event the animal develops congenital structural defects of such a magnitude to prevent it from performing its duties within a period of two (2) years from the date of receipt by the PAPD, the Contractor will replace the canine with another canine of like quality as set forth in this Contract, at no additional cost to the Port Authority.
