Program accelerates Spanish Language acquisition and literacy learning. Program uses a syllabic and authentic approach. It can be a traditional or innovative syllabic approach. Program uses a systematic phonological method to teach students learning to read in Spanish. Program must be effective in improving phonemic awareness. It must instruct direct instruction in phonics, decoding, and reading to improve comprehension and interpretation skills. Program provides teachers with decoding strategies, visual and manipulatives, which improve differentiated instruction. Program is based on current scientific research, Common Core State Standards, New Jersey Learning Standards and provide for differentiated instruction for students functioning on different academic levels. The program must also improve the comprehension and interpretation skills of Bilingual students. Although the main focus of the program will be to improve Spanish language acquisition and literacy learning, it must also have an equivalent English component.
