Specifications include, but are not limited to: General education students with an approved 504 Accommodation Plan may require medical accommodations between the ages of 2 1/2 & 21 at various school sites. The number of students requiring private nursing to address the students' medical conditions may increase or decrease during the school year depending on the students' medical condition. Therefore, the Jersey City Public Schools, Department of Student Life & Services, under Section 504 Federal Regulations, wishes to utilize Private Duty Nursing services suggested by Section 504.34 (a) (b) including: 1. One-on-One Nursing Services 2. Provider of nurses is responsible for facilitating optimal effectiveness of services. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a) Knowledge of medical technology i.e. insulin pumps, epi pens, catheters...dependent on the nature of the medical condition. b) Participation with the I&RS/ Section 504 Team in the identification of student goals and objectives. c) Development of treatment services designed to meet identified goals and objectives. d) Familiarity of 504 Regulations. e) Travel time between schools and sites in order to provide services to students. f) All associated documentation. g) Written reports as required under Section 504. h) Availability to work hours extending before and after the school day. i) Support of Building Nurse when student is absent or dismissed early...
