Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Board of Education desires to appoint Behavioral and Educational Consultants to provide consultation for up to 10 hours per week during the 2023-2024 school year. This consultation will address on-site curriculum development, updates, and modifications, ongoing staff training and behavioral support for autistic, behaviorally disabled, and multiply disabled students. Any experience or knowledge of matters that directly affect the Board of Education should be addressed. The behavior consultant/social workers services shall be of a quality consistent with the generally accepted standards for counselors/social workers under all applicable laws and regulations and be performed in accordance with reasonable rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education. More specifically, the behavior specialist must: a. Be well grounded in both ABA and DIR/Floor-time theories and processes; b. Be able to advise district staff in developing FBA’s and BIP’s; c. Have established relationships with local community-based providers including pediatricians, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, DYFS/DHS case workers, social workers, or other mental health professionals; d. Consult with classroom teachers to maximize inclusive opportunities; e. Be able to provide on-going training to both certified and non-certified staff; f. Provide curriculum guidance and direction on individual student basis; g. Model desired staff-student interactions; h. Attend staff-parent meetings as requested; and i. Provide professional guidance in establishing new teachers in Autism program.
