Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.13.1.1 Eleven (11-ft.) Plow The 11-ft. manual reversing plow trucks shall be heavy duty, tandem rear-axle and a minimum ten (10) yard capacity with a minimum registered gross weight of 55,000 pounds when loaded, and must provide their own ballast. Truck Class 8 is required for all plow teams, and spreader teams as listed for individual contracts. 2.13.1.2 Ten (10-ft.) Plow The 10-ft. manual reversing plow trucks shall be medium duty, single rear-axle and a minimum of six (6) yard capacity with a minimum registered gross weight of 30,000 pounds when loaded, and equipped with minimum six (6) yard spreader insert. Truck Class 7 is required for all plow/spreader teams as listed for Toll Plaza and Service Area Snow Removal Contracts. 2.13.1.3 Nine (9-ft.) Plow The 9-ft. manual reversing plow trucks shall be medium duty, single rear axle-dual wheel, with a minimum of three (3) yard capacity with a minimum registered gross weight of 16,000 pounds when loaded, and equipped with a minimum three (3) yard spreader insert. Truck Class 5 is permitted for plow/spreader teams where indicated for; Authority facilities, Toll Plaza and Service Area Snow Removal Contracts. 2.13.1.4 Heavy-duty Trucks-Lighting All heavy-duty trucks listed above shall be equipped with at least two (2) alternately flashing amber lights mounted high in the body and facing the rear, and one (1) LED and/or rotating beacon visible in both the front and rear in addition to the other standard lighting equipment. The Contractorshall install and maintain such beacon in operating condition on each heavy-duty truck employed. The Authority recommends the Class I Ecco Roto LED Beacon, Model #7660 rotator warning lights or approved equivalent. All heavy-duty trucks listed above shall be equipped with at least two (2) plow lights mounted high on the body and facing forward, in addition to the other standard lighting equipment. The Contractor shall install and maintain such plow lights in operating condition on each heavy-duty truck employed. The Authority recommends the Grote Model #64261-4 lights or approved equivalent. All equipment specifically mentioned above shall be considered an essential part of the Contractor’s equipment and shall be maintained in fully operating condition always during operations on Authority Roadways. Additionally, any Plow Truck with inoperable rotating warning lights will be kept off the Roadway until they are in satisfactory operating condition. The Authority may furnish the necessary plows, front push frames, salt spreaders, and hydraulic pump units as described hereinafter. 2.13.2 Supervisory Pick-up Trucks Where applicable, in accordance to your bid, the Contractor’s supervisor acts as coordinator for all Contract activities. THE SUPERVISOR SHALL NOT RIDE IN ANY OF THE SNOW PLOW VEHICLES. Supervisor's pick-up trucks shall be equipped with at least two (2) alternately amber flashing lights mounted so that their height is as great as the cab and facing the rear; and a rotating amber beacon mounted on top of the cab in such a fashion as to be visible throughout 360 degrees, all in addition to other standard lighting equipment. Any Supervisor’s truck that is not in accordance with the terms above will not be allowed on the Roadway. Thus, the Plow Team will not be allowed on the Roadway. 2.13.3 Front End Loaders Each loader working at toll plazas and ramps shall have a minimum of two (2) strobe lights mounted on the unit with reflective striping on the sides and rear of the unit. Units must meet all current OSHA, PEOSHA, ANSI, National Traffic & Motor Vehicle Safety Acts and any other applicable standards and regulations. The Contractor's supervisors must be in radio and/or cellular phone contact with their own equipment operators always. 2.13.3.1 3-4 Cubic Yard Bucket Loaders shall have a maximum width of 100” and shall be heavy duty, articulated, rubber tired, with a minimum 120 horsepower. Where indicated, the loaders shall be equipped with a snow pusher attachment having a minimum width of 192”. 2.13.3.2 2-3 Cubic Yard Bucket Loaders shall have a maximum width of 96” and shall be heavy duty, articulated, rubber tired, with a minimum 90 horsepower. Where indicated, the loaders shall be equipped with a snow pusher attachment having a minimum width of 144”. 2.13.3.3 5-7 Cubic Yard Bucket Loaders shall have a maximum width of 10’6” and shall be heavy duty, articulated, rubber tired, with a minimum 120 horsepower. Where indicated, the loaders shall be equipped with an Authority provided snow pusher attachment having a minimum width of 192”. The loaders shall be utilized if and where directed.
