We are seeking a design professional synthesizing our goals and ideas into a comprehensive redesign of the park to update it for the next 100 years. The scope will cover initial ideation sessions with the committee, reviews of design in progress, breakdown of the design into multiple construction phases, and final renderings and plans for the committee to use to raise the money to pay for the redesign. • The scope must include at least two (2) work sessions with the Memorial Park Committee and any additional stakeholders identified by the design team to enable the team to have the full vision of the needs of the final design. • The design must accommodate the ability to separate the final design into phased work to allow the committee to raise the money over multiple years as needed. • The scope must include all services that the submitting firm feels is needed to support this scope of work. • This scope of work is covering only the initial design phase and a separate contract may be issued to cover the scope of services for final design and construction coordination. A couple of elements that were identified by the Memorial Park Committee includes: • The redesign of the paths that create daily foot traffic through the park. • The reorganization of the monuments that have been placed over the years without a grand plan of design. • The consolidation of the current flagpoles, and considerations for additional new service specific flags to be potentially added. • Planning for the addition of monuments honoring Fr. Charles Watters, and for the local citizens who are veterans of the Global War on Terror. • Adding some kind of tribute to the 86+ Cranford residents memorialized by the park. • Adding seating to the park, and/or distinct areas for quiet reflection throughout the park. • Since the park is in a neighborhood, the overall design should be respectful of the neighboring homes. • The design should enhance landscaping, including a preference for the use of native trees and plants for longevity and lower maintenance concerns.
