Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. CRUSHED ROCK SALT, SODIUM CHLORIDE TYPE "A" a. Rock Salt must be supplied in bulk as ordered by the County and individual agencies of the Cooperative. b. Rock Salt shall be clean and free of extraneous matter and be white, grayish white, or brownish white in color. c. Rock Salt shall contain at the time of delivery, not more than 0.5 percent moisture when dried at 105 degrees Celsius (221 degrees Fahrenheit) to constant weight. d. Rock Salt when dried to constant weight as specified above shall conform to the following chemical composition: 1. Sodium Chloride (NA C1), minimum percent 93.0 percent solubility in boiling distilled water, minimum 99.0 percent. e. Bidders must submit a laboratory report, certifying that the rock salt they are bidding for meets or exceeds these specifications. The County reserves the right at any time to have a lab analysis performed on salt delivered under this contract. If the salt does not meet the minimum requirement specified, the contractor shall pay for all laboratory costs for the test. Lots represented by samples containing less than 93% sodium chloride shall be subject to a deduction of 0.5% from the delivered price per ton; for less than 92.5% and each succeeding 0.5% below minimum requirements shall be subject to additional 0.5% deductions from the delivered price per ton. Failure to comply shall be cause for automatic termination of contract.
