Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The primary exhibit area, where visitors will first enter the site, will be located in the Hartshorne Wagon Barn. An early 19th century timber-framed structure measuring 24 by 34 feet, the barn is historically associated with Portland Place as one of its farm buildings before the property was subdivided in 1881. The barn will be rehabilitated and reused as an orientation area with exhibits in the main space, and restrooms in the separate space in the south end of the barn. The exhibit area will be an unconditioned space. 2. A second area for orientation exhibits will be located in the historic house at Portland Place. The house has been restored for use as a house museum furnished with the Portland Place historical collection. The exhibit area will be in a former sitting room that has been designated as a reception area for visitors. The reception area is a conditioned space approximately 20 by 24 feet, which will include historic furnishings as well as a free-standing exhibit to introduce visitors to the house museum, its history and the people who lived there.
