Specifications include, but are not limited to: • The Community School Managing Organization will establish a Community School Advisory board to provide guidance, support, resources and accountability for implementation. • The Community School Managing Organization will conduct a needs assessment and community asset assessment in order to identify the strengths, challenges and opportunities to implement the Community School Model. • The Community School Managing Organization will identify, develop, and expand upon existing partnerships with community organizations as well as seeking new partnerships to serve the needs of all students. • The Community School Managing Organization must be able to build capacity, identify and build relationships among community residents, local leaders, and the school community as well as leverage and secure community resources for the benefit of students and their families. • The Community School Managing Organization will engage parents in decision-making and leadership roles to drive school change. The focus of the community school will be to extensively involve parents in their children’s health, education, and social-emotional development and to provide a coordinated and integrated set of academic, social, and health services based on the needs of the students, the parents’/family members, and the community. • The Community School Managing Organization will hire a Community School Coordinator, in collaboration with the school leadership, who will be responsible for the implementation of the community school model. The Coordinator, in collaboration with the school and based on the need’s assessment, will develop a plan that identifies goals, objectives and activities.
