Specifications include, but are not limited to: Increased incidences of suicide, substance abuse overdose, and mental health challenges in the East Windsor, Hightstown community have coalesced a large group of community stakeholders to seek solutions and assistance to address these needs. These funds will be used to continue a localized project which will include community education, system navigation, information and referral, case management services, and consultations, including stabilization services and assessments to determine need for ongoing treatment. Community Education will address risk and protective factors for suicide, the key risk factor being undiagnosed, untreated, or ineffectively treated mental disorders, substance use prevention and intervention, and identification of mental health needs. All community education services will seek to reduce stigma and support the appropriate community linkages. Information and referral and case management services will assist the consumer in the process of identifying and connecting with the necessary resources and appropriate level of care. These funds must be used in the East Windsor, Hightstown area. This community has a high proportion of residents with Latino/Latina heritage; the successful applicant will need to provide a portion of the services in Spanish and should describe how they will accomplish this. Preference will be given to organizations that have a history of providing services in the East Windsor Hightstown community, with established working relationships in these communities. The project is linked to the iCares non-profit organization who are the lease holders where the project is currently located. The County has allocated a rental portion to this project and it will be paid through the grant to the sub-grantee (iCares) for the contract period struck through this grant opportunity. This project provides funding for one full time equivalent.
