Community Violence Intervention is an evidence-based approach that uses strategies to reduce violence by providing direct support to those at the greatest risk of perpetrating violence and those who are already connected to violence. Providers can apply for the sub-category listed below. High Risk Intervention Programs to address violence – Providers will develop High-Risk Intervention Programs that involve various strategies and services. These include: Hiring, training, and deploying Outreach Workers, Violence Interrupters, and Mediators. Providing peacemaking & peacekeeping, violence interruption, and community engagement services. Employing community members as Credible Messengers to serve as case managers; Organizing events aimed at fostering community. Working with service providers to provide resources and referrals. Contracting with legal service providers to provide legal services to individuals with prior contact with the criminal justice system. Hiring bilingual staff who can communicate with diverse populations and provide outreach, education, crisis intervention, and mediation services to prevent and reduce violence. Training and deploying Outreach Workers, Violence Interrupters, and Mediators who can intervene in conflicts, promote peace, and engage with the community.
