General Counsel Services. The successful individual and/or firm(s) must have a primary office in Ocean County and have a minimum of five years experience in representing a New Jersey County government in contractual matters; civil service and personnel matters; eminent domain; planning and land use matters; public contracts; real property and development rights acquisition; intergovernmental contracts; federal and state agreements; joint ventures, partnership and grant agreements; solid waste, recycling and environmental matters and litigation; public entity bond issues; consumer affairs regulation and litigation matters; weights and measures regulation and litigation matters; election law matters; bail bond forfeiture proceedings; risk management and workers compensation matters; OPRA; and general litigation. Special Counsel Services – Assistant County Adjuster The successful individual and/or firm must have primary office in Ocean County and must have a minimum of five years experience in performing New Jersey County Adjuster’s office tasks, and be thoroughly familiar with the daily operations, policies, management, budgeting, and activities of a County Adjuster’s Office, including civil commitment and admissions procedures, collection of monies due to the County for the support of patients from other county and State institutions for civil commitment, Adjuster rate setting hearings, lien establishment and collection of prisoner health care obligations and all other matters as directed by the County. Special Counsel Services – Planning Board Attorney The successful individual and/or firm must have primary office in Ocean County and must have a minimum of five years experience in representing Planning Boards in the State of New Jersey. Responsibilities include advising the board on legal matters, providing guidance on legal issues, ensuring compliance with all applicable land use laws, representing the board in legal proceedings such as hearings, appeals, and litigation, if necessary, and ensure that the planning board follows proper procedures and protocols during meetings. Special Counsel Services – Construction Board of Appeals The successful individual and/or firm must have a primary office in Ocean County and must have a minimum of five years experience in representing or appearing before the Construction Board of Appeals in the State of New Jersey. Responsibilities include representing the County in matters concerning appeals from other decision making boards in the County regarding Uniform Construction Code and Fire Code violations, advising the board on legal matters, providing guidance on legal issues, ensuring compliance with all applicable land use laws, representing the board in legal proceedings such as hearings, appeals, and litigation, if necessary, and ensure that the planning board follows proper procedures and protocols during meetings. Special Counsel Services The successful individual and/or firm must have a primary office in Ocean County and must have a minimum of five years experience in representing counties or municipalities in New Jersey in Open Publics Records matters. Responsibilities include assisting the County in ensuring compliance with the law and representing their interests in any related legal matters.
