A. The vendor shall be responsible for removing dead animals from public property in the Township, including animals located along roadways (excluding deer). B. The vendor shall be responsible for removing dead animals from private property, where such animals were not owned by the property owner and their presence poses a threat to the public health, safety of welfare. C. The vendor shall take animals into custody as requested by the Police Department including when the animal is already in the custody of the Police Department without delay. D. Owners of free roaming animals will be contacted before transporting them to the Atlantic County animal shelter. E. At the request of the Police Department, Vendor will investigate dog bites and impound animals under the NJ Vicious Dog Law N.J. S.A. 4-19-19, 4:19-23, 4:19-24, 4:19-32. The owner is responsible for removal and boarding costs. F. The Vendor shall hold any deceased cat(s) or dog(s) for a period of 8 hours. The contractor shall scan the animal for a microchip and post on social media if one is found; this will allow the owner the opportunity to claim and retrieve their pet. The social media platform shall be but not limited to Facebook and Nextdoor. G. The contractor shall provide humane treatment to all animals in conformity with the rules and regulations established by the New Jersey Department of Health. H. The Vendor is not responsible to conduct regular patrols of the Township to apprehend stray and/or running at large animals and to detect possible violations of State and Local animal regulations; however, the vendor may be called upon by the Township to assist with locating and apprehending an animal running at large.
