Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County of Union is requesting proposals from interested and qualified firms to perform an analysis of the various service options and/or models that may be available in an effort to reduce County subsidization of its long-term nursing facility. The County of Union has an extensive history of providing long-term care to its needy residents through the operation of Runnells Specialized Hospital. In the past five years, the County has undertaken a series of cost-saving measures at Runnells. The County of Union has to date made extensive effort to increase efficiency and cut costs, including privatizing many functions within the Facility, from overall management to dietary and laundry services. While these cost-cutting changes have reduced the County's share of funding required to successfully operate the Facility, there is still a significant County contribution required. The County of Union seeks to reduce, if not eliminate, that contribution without decreasing the quality of services to the residents. In these challenging economic times, the County is seeking proposals from an experienced consultant to define the various options that may be available to further reduce costs at Runnells Specialized Hospital. The County is seeking to retain a consultant/firm that can analyze all feasible options and present these findings and options to the County Manager, the Director of the Department of Human Services and the Administrator of Runnells Specialized Hospital.
