Removal of One (1) 6,000 Gallon Underground Storage Tank System Containing Unleaded Gasoline Cherry Hill Twp Municipal Building/Police Station 820 Mercer Street Cherry Hill, Camden County, New Jersey The Township of Cherry Hill is seeking proposals for the removal of one (1) 6,000-gallon underground storage tank system (UST System) at the Cherry Hill Township Municipal Building/Police Department located at 820 Mercer Street, Cherry Hill, Camden County, New Jersey. The UST system consists of • One (1) 6,000 gallon double walled fiberglass coated steel tank. The concrete pad is approximately 31’ 6” X 8’7” and is approximately 2” thick. No rebar is expected within the concrete. • Approximately 100 feet of fiberglass reinformed plastic product piping located under grass, concrete curb and 4 inches of asphalt. • One (1) product dispenser. Following is the technical scope for the proposal. • Remove and properly dispose of the concrete pad over the 6,000-gallon Underground Storage Tank. • Remove and properly dispose of any residual fuel, sludge and sediments from the underground storage tank. Properly vent and clean the UST prior to removal from the ground. For purposes of this Request for Quotation, contractors are to assume 200 gallons of residual fuel, sludge and sediments remain in the underground storage tank. • Remove and properly dispose of the 6,000 gallon double walled fiberglass coated steel tank. • Find end of product piping at UST end, and remove, via excavation, the product piping to the dispense end. Product piping is estimated to be 100’ in length and located three (3) feet below grade. Asphalt, concrete/concrete curb and landscaped areas cover the pipe run. • Remove and dispose of any asphalt or concrete overlying the product piping. All landscaped areas overlying product piping must be replaced in kind. The Township expects the Contractor to sawcut all edges of asphalt and concrete. • Remove and dispose of product dispenser. Concrete pad under dispenser to remain but must be sealed so that no open pipes are exposed. • Upon completion of removal of the UST system, the area shall remain open and secure for enough time to allow the Township’s Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) to collect post excavation soil samples in the area of the former Underground Storage Tank, the pipe run and the dispenser. • Upon completion of soil sampling, all areas to have plastic sheeting or orange safety fence placed as a demarcation barrier and then be backfilled with appropriate volume of certified clean fill. Overburden to be placed on top of clean fill
