Description

Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this project is to restore stream habitat and increase wild brook trout populations by strategically placing felled trees into a total 13,000 feet of Schoppe, Abbott and Graham Brooks, which are high priority wild brook trout streams in the Indian Stream watershed. The Indian Stream Restoration Project is entirely within the ~172,000 acre Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Forest, with a conservation easement held by the State of New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and therefore provides public access in perpetuity. The overall Project is a multi-year, collaborative effort to restore fisheries habitat so that the watershed supports an intact aquatic ecosystem, including wild brook trout and angling for them. The overall Indian Stream Restoration Project is nearly completed, and this current request will move ahead the last phase of the work, which is to strategically add wood to several tributaries. One or two NH Fish and Game’s Inland Fisheries Division staff will work alongside an independent contractor for at least 4 of these days to oversee and help direct with the project.
