A. The existing surface shall be thoroughly dry and free from all dust, dirt and loose material. Sweeping with a power broom, supplemented by hand brooming, may be necessary and is incidental to the work. B. The Contractor shall make cut-in joints a minimum of 10 feet wide by 1.5 inches deep on all side streets, starting points and ending points, bridge, and railroad track transitions or as deemed necessary by the Engineer. NOTE: These cut-in joints will be considered incidental to the work and will not be paid for under the Item 417 Cold Planning Bituminous Surfaces. A tack coat of emulsified asphalt shall be used on all cold joints. Fillet shall be installed on all cut in joints until paving occurs. C. Paving radius flares at intersections and three (3) feet into driveways will not be considered handwork and will be paid under the tonnage price for Item 403.11043 HBP – ½” Surface Mix, Machine Method.
