Specifications include, but are not limited to: install a new 84-inch storm drain pipe along Broadway and under a railroad corridor located southeast of Broadway. Construction activities to install the new drain commenced in August 2019. The Site includes an area of Broadway east of New York Street and the utility easement traversing between Red’s Shoe Barn (35 Broadway) and Northeast Office Equipment (45 Broadway) and under the railroad corridor necessary to construct the proposed storm drain pipe and associated structures (Figures 1 and 2). The Site does not have a formal street address. Review of available historical maps indicate that the Site was historically a natural drainage feature which conveyed stormwater to the Cocheco River, approximately 1,500 feet to the south. Historical topographic maps indicate that the area between Red’s Shoe Barn and Northeast Office Equipment was likely filled at some time between 1941 and 1956. It is likely that the box culvert that is currently planned to be replaced was constructed at the time that the area was filled.
