1.1. This specification includes general requirements that are applicable to all types of planting, including trees irrespective of type. 1.2. This work shall consist of the furnishing, installing, and maintaining approved tree species. 1.3. It includes all labor, equipment, and materials required for the professional planting of healthy trees, following best practices for the species and planting location. 1.4. This work also includes furnishing and installing landscaping materials, including all layout, fertilizing, soil conditioning, staking, guying, watering, excavating, mulching, weeding, herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, refertilizing as necessary, replanting as needed, and stake and guy removal after the establishment period, as shown on the plans or as ordered. 1.5. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing components to prevent root intrusion beyond landscaped areas and under asphalt and concrete surfaces. 1.6. The Contractor shall obtain all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals required for the project. 1.6.1. An Excavation Permit must be obtained before any proposed excavation within the City right-of-way or on City property. 1.6.3. An encumbrance permit must be obtained when there is the need for: 1.6.3.1. any temporary closure or narrowing of a pedestrian walkway; or 1.6.3.2. the temporary closing of one or more lanes of a City street; or 1.6.3.3. the blocking or obstructing of any portion of the City right-of-way intended for vehicular or pedestrian usage. 1.7. The selected Contractor is responsible for conducting all required Dig Safe notifications and coordination prior to commencing work.
