24.1. In responding to the bid invitation, the prospective Vendor shall address all requirements for information as outlined herein. 24.2. Bridges must be a portable “hybrid” bridge with no hinge. 24.3. 15' minimum clear/useable deck width. 24.3.1. Bridge consists of two modular steel sections each nominally 8' wide x 40' long, with timber deck pre-installed. 24.3.2. The sections are set in place over the crossing one at a time, aligned, and bolted together. 24.3.3. A series of steel "center panels" are set in place to cover the splice location. 24.4. HS25 capacity [45-ton/5-axle tractor-trailer], subject to 10 mph speed restriction. 24.4.1. Deflection may exceed AASHTO suggested values. 24.5. Stamped design letter of certification, drawings, and stringer calculations. 24.6. Tapered beam ends, pipe towbars, and additional reinforcing for ease of handling. 24.6.1. Designed to withstand the rigors of relocation between multiple sites. 24.6.2. Bridges can be "skidded" utilizing typical excavating/forestry equipment. 24.7. Full-dimension steel end plates [" backwalls"] above towbars. 24.8. 3.5" OD pipe guardrail, minimum 24" above deck. 24.9. Epoxy primer / urethane topcoat. 24.10. 3.5"x6" white oak plank deck system, pre-installed. 24.10.1. This deck system has been used extensively and " field-proven" to be suitable, although calculated stresses are larger than recommended in the National Design Spec for Wood Construction. 24.10.2. Deck planks are secured via full-length bolted " retainer " angles. Replacement of planks does not require fastening individual planks, nor is any torch-cutting /welding required.
