Specifications include, but are not limited to: At the south side of the Memorial Union Building (MUB), exterior stairs and concrete elements have deteriorated due to exposure to the elements and winter de-icing chemicals. This project seeks to implement the corrective actions recommended in a report prepared by Harriman Associates dated October 24, 2012. Work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Demolition of concrete-filled metal-pan stairs, supporting deteriorated steel structure, and associated railing systems. 2. Excavation. 3. Provision of the following: a. Reinforced concrete foundation for a steel column b. Concrete patching, including preparatory work. c. Galvanized steel stair support elements. d. Fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) stair treads and risers. e. Metal railing systems. f. Brake-metal drip edges. 4. Restoration of disturbed metal panel finishes. 5. Restoration of disturbed grounds.
