Specifications include, but are not limited to:Carson City’s wastewater treatment system is composed of approximately 248 miles of sewer collection pipelines, 24 miles of effluent distribution pipelines, 2 reuse pump stations, a winter storage reservoir, and one 6.9 mgd (average) Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF). Currently, the WRRF treats an average of 5 mgd, a reduction in average daily flow from 5.5 mgd in 2000. Disposal of Carson City’s treated effluent is 100% reuse with no direct discharge to the Carson River. Effluent produced during the winter is stored in Brunswick Canyon Reservoir during the winter months; during the summer months effluent is delivered to 3 local golf courses and the State of Nevada Prison farm. Brunswick reservoir is a 3,288 acre-foot unlined earthen embankment facility which loses approximately 2,000 acre-feet a year to evaporation and seepage.
