Overview/Scope of Work: Great Basin College (GBC) in Elko, NV is a state-supported Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution, which has been mandated to provide comprehensive educational services to students in both urban and rural populations. The greater Elko area includes the communities of Spring Creek, Carlin and Lamoille and has a population of over 30,000. With over 500 full- and part-time educators and staff, the College grows each year at a rate of 1-4%. The Colleges 44-acre, mile-high Elko campus borders Interstate 80 less than a mile northeast of downtown Elko. GBC has student enrollment in certificate of achievement programs, as well as both associate and baccalaureate degree programs. The College enrolled 2,036 students from the Elko service area in fall 2010. The Cyber Caf, which is housed in the Electrical and Industrial Technology (EIT) Building, totals 742 square feet. The Cyber Caf includes a counter space/work area (150 sq. ft.), separate storage area (25 sq. ft.), and a seating area for 20 occupants (567 sq. ft.). No cooking facilities are available or permitted in this facility. The purpose of this facility is to provide beverages and a limited variety of prepared foods and snacks. The main cafeteria, located in the newly remodeled Leonard Center for Student Life, totals approximately 4,575 square feet. The cafeteria houses a kitchen/serving area (1,425 sq. ft.), an office and storage areas (260 sq. ft.), and seating areas for 88 occupants (2,890 sq. ft.). A beautiful seating area with a gas fireplace also sits adjacent to one of the dining areas. The cafeteria is furnished with booth and table-style seating, bar stools with counterheight seating, and state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances. The exterior of the facility includes outdoor picnic tables and bistro-style tables along with a portable BBQ.
