Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this solicitation is to obtain competitive pricing for magnesium chloride liquid deicing agents to be delivered F.O.B. destination to Department of Transportation locations statewide as indicated in bid. Contract will be for a period of one (1) year beginning on October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012 with the option of three (1) one year extensions provided it is in the best interest of the state. Award may be made to multiple vendors. This contract is primarily for use by the Department of Transportation, however, orders may be placed by the Nevada State Purchasing Division or other State agencies, Cities, Counties or political subdivisions should the need arise. The Nevada Department of Transportation is requesting bids for the establishment of an OPEN TERM CONTRACT for Liquid Deicer Agent. The material quoted must meet the following criteria: a. Must be liquid in nature. b. Must stay in solution with a minimum of agitation and remain effective at temperatures down to -8 degrees Fahrenheit. c. Corrosion inhibitors must be added during the manufacturing process and meet PNS (Pacific Northwest Snowfighters) standard specifications of 70% less corrosive than rock salt (NaCl2), minimum. Post addition of corrosion inhibitors is prohibited. d. Material Safety Data Sheets must be provided with each delivery. e. The material must have the capability of being used as a prewetting solution.
