.1.2 Task(s): The contractor shall provide (2) new fuel transfer pumps for the generators. Contractor is responsible for all materials, tools, hardware, and labor to complete this project. Contractor is also responsible for properly disposing of all materials that have been removed from this project. Pre-installation: If necessary, the contractor transfer fuel from the day tank to the main storage tank or other approved containment system. De-energize and lock out all electrical power to the fuel transfer system. Shut off and secure the fuel supply lines. Demolition and Removal: Disconnect and remove all electrical wiring to the existing pumps. Disconnect fuel lines from the existing pump, managing the residual fuel. Remove the existing fuel transfer pump from its mounting. If necessary, remove the existing fuel filter assembly and replace it with new. Installation: Install the new fuel transfer pump onto the existing or a new properly prepared mounting base. Plumb the new fuel lines, utilizing the pipe and fittings from the fuel tank to the day tank and new pump. All flexible hoses should also be replaced. Install the new, primary fuel filter assembly. Run and land all new electrical circuits and wire for the pump, ensuring proper grounding and connection to the generator control panel. After re-fueling, pressure tests the new piping and pump connections for a leak-tight seal. Post-Installation and testing: Prime the new fuel system to remove any air from the lines. Functionality test generator and test the fuel transfer pump’s operation, monitoring fuel pressure and flow. Perform a simulated power outage to confirm the generator starts automatically, the transfer switch works, and the new pump operates correctly under the load. The contractor must thoroughly clean the work area and properly dispose of all materials used and remove from project.
