Specifications include, but are not limited to: ANTI-CAKING AGENT: The delivered material shall be treated with the anti-caking agent Yellow Prussiate of Soda (YPS) – Sodium Ferrocyanide. The rock salt shall be treated with 25 to 250 ppm of YPS as needed. Delivered rock salt shall be free-flowing and usable. GRADATION: The crushed rock shall conform to the specifications for Type I Grade I Sodium Chloride pursuant to ASTM D 632-01. MOISTURE CONTENT: The moisture content of the delivered rock salt shall not be over 1.5 percent. Any moisture in excess of 1.5 percent shall be cause for rejection of the delivered load of rock salt. SULFATE CONCENTRATION: The sulfate concentration in the delivered rock salt shall not exceed 2 percent by weight as tested using the barium chloride method. Concentration in excess of 2 percent shall be cause for rejection of the delivered load of rock salt. PACKAGING AND MAKING: The sodium chloride shall be delivered in bulk load lots. The name of the producer and the net weight shall be legibly marked on the shipping report.
