Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project includes construction of a roundabout at the intersection of South 56th Street and Yankee Hill Road in Lincoln, Nebraska. The limits of reconstruction would extend approximately 0.25 miles east and west of the intersection along Yankee Hill Road and approximately 0.25 miles north and south of the intersection along South 56th Street. Construction will begin and/or end approximately 600 feet ahead of or beyond the actual project limits to accommodate transitioning the pavement. North of the intersection, South 56th Street generally consists of two asphalt driving lanes with varying width earth shoulders. The overall roadway width widens at the intersection to accommodate a left-turn and right-turn lane. Left-turn storage areas are established by creating medians with yellow pavement markings to separate traffic in opposing directions. South of the intersection, South 56th Street generally consists of two asphalt driving lanes with paved shoulders. The overall roadway width widens at the intersection to accommodate a left-turn lane. Left-turn storage areas are established by creating medians with yellow pavement markings to separate traffic in opposite directions. West of the intersection, Yankee Hill Road consists of two asphalt driving lanes with earth shoulders. East of the intersection, Yankee Hill Road consists of two asphalt driving lanes with earth shoulders. The overall roadway width widens near the South 59th Street intersection to provide a left turn lane for eastbound traffic. At the left turn lane, opposing traffic is shifted to the north by creating a median with yellow pavement markings to separate traffic in opposite directions. The improvements on this project will consist of reconstructing the existing asphalt roadway with new concrete or asphalt as necessary to build the new roundabout and to tie back into the existing approach roadways. Existing drainage structures will be reviewed and modified as needed to meet City standards. New storm sewer will be constructed as part of the project as needed to drain the new pavement at the roundabout and approach roadways. Scope details include: Grading beyond the existing shoulder hinge point will be required for the following work: Roadway grading for widened pavement and intersection improvements Culverts Mailbox replacement Earth shoulder construction Drives and intersections
