Spring season (April – May) maintenance activities shall include the following. 6.4.1 Apply decomposed, shredded, hardwood mulch to all trees, three (3”) thick minimum. 6.4.2 Remove all suckers and broken or twisted branches form trees. 6.4.3 Remove any debris from trees and tree rings (i.e. plastic bags, trash, etc.). 6.4.4 Check tree stakes and ties, repair / adjust as needed. 6.4.5 Control weedy grasses and weedy broad leaves in all mulched areas. 6.5 Summer season (June – September) maintenance activities shall include the following. 6.5.1 Re-apply wood chip mulch, one inch (1”), as needed to keep soil covered. 6.5.2 Remove all suckers and broken or twisted branches from trees. 6.5.3 Remove any debris from trees and tree rings (i.e. plastic bags, trash, etc.). 6.5.4 Check tree stakes and ties, repair / adjust as needed. 6.5.5 Control weedy grasses and weedy broad leaves in all mulched areas. 6.5.6 Fill water bags every seven (7) days unless one (1) inch or more of rain has been recorded since the last time the bag was filled. 6.6 Fall season (October – November) maintenance activities shall be performed at the end of the one (1) or two (2) year establishment period. 6.6.1 Remove all tree stakes and ties. 6.6.2 Remove all water bags.
