Rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB); 2.1.1 The RRFB shall be manually activated by pedestrians using a standard specification pedestrian push button. 2.1.2 The RRFB shall use an irregular flash pattern of amber LEDs. 2.1.3 The RRFB shall operate with standard voltage of 120VAC with an option of operation via a solar generator / battery system. 2.1.4 The LED light bars shall be adjustable for mounting in the field and aiming of the light bar towards oncoming traffic. 2.1.5 The LED light bars shall meet or exceed MUTCD intensity requirements. 2.1.6 The LED light bars shall be sized with extra-large modules of 7” X 3” minimum size, with 2 arrays of 8 amber LEDs, SAE J595 certified. 2.1.7 The control cabinet shall be a dust proof and waterproof NEMA rated enclosure. 2.1.8 The control cabinet shall contain all necessary components and settings including an on-board user interface for simple in-the-field configuration and status monitoring. 2.1.9 The control settings shall allow for timing flash duration, ambient settings, and night intensity. 2.1.10 The typical RRFB installation and system components shall include four (4) LED light bars, and one (1) pole mounted control cabinet. 2.1.11 The RRFB System shall include all necessary mounting hardware and accessories for mounting to a standard 4” pedestal pole. 2.1.12 There shall be no substitutes for any of the items on the list without prior written approval of the City's Traffic Engineering Manager.
