This specification covers overhead fiber optic ground wire (OPGW), configured with stranded loose plastic buffer tubes for fibers configured within an aluminum central member. Outside stranding and protection for the core shall be helically applied aluminum clad steel wires which serve as the cable strength members. The OPGW will be installed on wood, concrete, or steel structures associated with transmission lines of voltages up to 345kV. The OPGW will generally occupy the top position of the transmission structure.
