• Mowing all lawn areas at a height of 4" once per week when the grass is actively growing. Reduced mowing frequency can be used during times of turf dormancy and reduced growth, and coordinated with DCES. Mowing season is approximately March 21 through October 31, as coordinated with DCES. Lawn clippings are to remain on the lawn area. Excessive clumping of grass should be broken up with additional mowing, blowers, or other mechanical means. • Trimming the edges of all lawn areas to a height of 4", where said lawn areas, sidewalks, buildings, or other hard surfaces. Trimmings should be blown back onto the lawn areas. All areas will be trimmed at the time of cutting. Hand trimming will be required in all areas where rotary mowers cannot access. Hand trimming will be performed with the aid of a string trimmer or any other suitable hand trimmer. Hand trimming will be performed around all guard posts, sign posts, power poles, chain link fences, trees, and along all building perimeter walls where grass or any vegetation is growing. Trimming around trees shall be done in a manner that does not damage the tree (i.e., the trimmer line/blade shall not contact the tree trunk, collar, and/or root flare). The contractor will trim around any other equipment, which may be located permanently or temporarily on each site. It is the intent of the hand trimming to maintain all areas in a neat fashion. The contractor may use a chemical trimming agent in all hardscape areas of the site. Chemical trimming agents shall not be used within the drip line of trees on the property. • Furnish all labor and equipment necessary to fertilize at the rate of 2 lbs. of N per calendar year, with 1.5 lb. of slow-release N to be applied in the fall and 0.5 lb. of N applied in the spring. Contractor to specify to DCES the products to be used.
