Specifications include, but are not limited to: 4.1 Perform the grinding/chipping of Christmas trees beginning January 19, 2021 and continuing consecutive calendar days until complete, unless alternate schedule is approved by City’s designated representative. 4.1.1 City’s designated representative is Willa DiCostanzo, Waste Diversion Coordinator (wdicostanzo@lincoln.ne.gov or (402) 441-7043 (this number is a landline, not a cell phone)) 4.1.2 Estimated number of work days required is less than four (4) days. 4.1.3 Grinding/Chipping shall not begin prior to the morning of Tuesday, January 19, 2021. 4.2 Christmas trees will be deposited by the public at eight locations identified locally as City parks. 4.2.1 Ballard Park; North 66th and Kearney Avenue (1/2 block south) 4.2.2 Oak Lake Park; Cornhusker Highway and North 1st Street (3 blocks south) 4.2.3 Seng Park at University Place; North 50th Street and Garland Street 4.2.4 Holmes Lake Park; South 70th Street and Holmes North Shore Road (parking lot northwest of north softball field) 4.2.5 Tierra Park; South 29th Street and Tierra Drive 4.2.6 Woods Park; South 31st Street and “J” Street 4.3 Christmas trees are stockpiled on asphalt and/or rock surfaced areas of parking lots at these locations. 4.4 The City’s Parks and Recreation Departments maintains the collection sites between Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020 and Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18, 2021. 4.4.1 Where possible, temporary fencing is installed to limit the spread of the tree pile. 4.4.2 Temporary signs are erected designating the tree pile area and items that must be removed from the trees (lights, tinsel, bulbs, base/stands, bags or ropes, etc.) 4.4.3 Trash/garbage is removed from receptacles regularly during the tree collection period. 4.5 The City’s Parks and Recreation Department removes temporary fencing and temporary signs approximately the week following the completion of the grinding/chipping of the trees. 4.6 Contractor shall perform the grinding/chipping between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. 4.7 Contractor shall perform all loading/feeding of the grinding/chipping equipment. 4.8 Contractor shall be responsible for safety at the location during all grinding/chipping. 4.8.1 Contractor shall prevent the dropping-off of additional Christmas trees during all periods of grinding/chipping.
