Reinforcing Steel 2.2.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for furnishing concrete reinforcement. Reinforcing steel shall conform to ASTM A615 Grade 60 unless otherwise noted. Shop drawings and mill test reports on reinforcing steel shall be submitted. Steel reinforcement may be stored on site where directed by LES. 2.3 Concrete 2.3.1 Concrete and concrete work shall conform to ACI 301. Concrete materials and mixture proportion information shall be submitted. 2.3.2 The concrete shall meet the following specifications: 2.3.2.1 Minimum 28-day compressive strength: 4,000 PSI 2.3.2.2 Slump: 4” – 6” 2.3.2.3 Air content: 5% - 7% 2.3.2.4 Maximum coarse aggregate size: 1” 2.3.3 Water-reducing, set-retarding admixtures shall conform to ASTM C 494, Type D, to meet slump requirements and to delay concrete setting. 2.3.4 High-range, water-reducing, and set-retarding admixtures shall conform to ASTM C494, Type G, or ASTM C 1017, Type II only with the acceptance of LES. 2.3.5 Cement shall conform to ASTM C150 Type I or Type II or ASTM C595 Type 1L. 2.3.6 Calcium chloride or any admixture containing chloride ions shall not be used. 2.3.7 Mass concrete shall conform to the thermal control plan. Maximum temperature shall not exceed 160o F and the maximum temperature difference within the placement shall not exceed 35o F unless otherwise specified in the thermal control plan.
