Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3. INSPECTION OF EXHAUST SYSTEMS 3.1. The work covered by this contract shall include cleaning and degreasing the entire kitchen hood system as required by NFPA 96 Chapter 11.; 3.2 In case of accidental discharge of the kitchen hood fire suppression system, if caused by the contractor, the contractor shall be responsible for repairs, recharges and clean up at no cost to the Richmond County School System.; 3.3 In the case of an accidental discharge the contractor shall repair, recharge and clean up by 5:00 a.m. The next business day.; 3.3.1 At the time of accidental discharge of system the contractor shall immediately report/notify the Owners representative of the location and time of the discharge.; 4. CLEANING OF EXHAUST SYSTEMS 4.1. Upon inspection, if found to be contaminated with deposits from grease-laden vapors, the entire exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified, and certified individual.; 4.2. All cooking equipment and surrounding apparatus shall be covered prior to commencing with the cleaning process. Surrounding areas, including floors, shall be cleaned upon completion.; 4.3. Hoods, grease removal devices, fans, ducts, and other appurtenances shall be cleaned to bare metal prior to surfaces becoming heavily contaminated with grease or oily sludge.; 4.3.1 Degreasing is to conform to the applicable sections of NFPA 96.; 4.4 At the start of the cleaning process, electrical switches that could be activated accidentally shall be locked out.; 4.5. Components of the fire suppression system shall not be rendered inoperable during the cleaning process.; 4.6. Fire-extinguishing systems shall be permitted to be rendered inoperable during the cleaning process where serviced by properly trained and qualified persons.
