Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. All excavator work under the terms of this agreement will be done with an excavator no larger than a Class EX6 (136 to 161 horsepower) with a weight of 60,000 pounds and equipped with: Bucket and thumb, clamshell, double rake head, or a masticating/grinding head w/thumb Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS) Grousers Approved, serviceable spark arrester Fire extinguisher (dry chemical type 2.5 pound minimum) Shovel and Pulaski B. All dozer work under the terms of this agreement will be done with a dozer no larger than a D-6 equivalent and equipped with: Brush Blade Roll Over Protective Structure (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structure (FOPS) Grousers Approved, serviceable spark arrester Fire extinguisher (dry chemical type 2.5 pound minimum) Shovel and Pulaski C. On slopes >35% an excavator will be required unless approved by the Contract Liaison. Slopes < 35% does not guarantee that a Dozer will be permitted. D. Equipment used must be washed by the Contractor and inspected by the Contract Liaison prior to commencement of work. E. Prior to operation, the Contractor and the Contract Liaison will visit the harvest unit to be treated and agree on piling and site-preparation needs. F. The Contractor will supply qualified equipment operator(s) at all times. G. The Contract Liaison may temporarily suspend operations under weather conditions unsuitable for continuing work; the period of such suspension shall not be deemed a breach of the terms of this Agreement. H. The Contractor will leave 8 to 24 tons per acre of slash that is 3 inches or larger in diameter. I. All piles will be clean, 6 feet or greater in height and compacted with piling equipment to a sufficient degree to allow complete burning. J. Piles will not be constructed within 20 feet of residual trees or beneath any portion of the crown of a residual tree. If spacing of residual trees makes this impractical, piles will be constructed in the largest openings available. K. Where site preparation is specified by the Contract Liaison, the Contractor will expose bare mineral soil on 30 to 35 percent of the area. L. Operations will be conducted only under relatively dry soil-moisture conditions (20% or less soil moisture). M. The Contractor will scrupulously avoid damaging residual trees and displacing soil during piling operations. N. The Contractor shall repair all existing facilities, such as, but not limited to, roads, erosion dips, barriers, drainage facilities, and fences, if damaged or removed by the Contractor. O. The Contractor will not operate equipment in or across live streams, stream channels, or within Streamside Management Zones (SMZs). P. The Contractor will leave standing all broken trees that are greater than 8 inches dbh. Q. Patches of regeneration and un-harvested timber within unit boundaries will be left, except as directed by the Contract Liaison. R. Poorly formed and logging damaged sub-merchantable trees will be piled or scattered as directed by the Contract Liaison. S. Landing piles that have been burned will be re-piled at the discretion of the Contract Liaison.
