Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad bisects Bozeman east/ west of the north side of the city. The City would like to consider the establishment of a quiet zone at the W. Griffin Dr., N. Rouse Ave., and N. Wallace Ave./ L St. railroad crossings. The study should include the following items: • Establish a purpose and need for the project • Review of FRA regulations and policies for Quiet Rail Zones • Review of existing safety devices in use • Access management • Analysis of existing facilities • Evaluation of possible alternatives to improve safety • Cost estimates for each alternative • Traffic Operations Analysis • Analysis and Compilation of Crash Data • Environmental and social impacts • Evaluation of advantages and disadvantages and cost comparisons of the various alternatives • Investigation of the feasibility of construction alternatives • A recommended implementation plan. • At the direction of the City, preliminary and construction design engineering of selected alternatives.
