Montana faces transportation planning-related issues that directly impact its ability to receive and invest federal transportation dollars into the state’s economy and transportation network. In support of Montana’s transportation program, the State conducts, in cooperation with local, state, and federal officials, transportation planning. This includes developing and implementing the programs, processes, systems, and planning products necessary to make informed policy and programming decisions in accordance with state and federal procedures. The State has determined it is in its best interest to obtain transportation planning assistance to enhance MDT’s ability to respond quickly to emerging developments related to Montana’s transportation system.
