Larval Control and Abatement (Ground and Aerial): May 1 – September 30 • Planning and implementation of larval control activities, including ground or aerial applications of larvicides directed at breeding sites identified through surveillance results. • Larval abatement shall occur when: ▪ Based on the professional judgement of the contractor, when mosquito larvae or pupae are present across multiple dips per site; or ▪ Persistent breeding activity is documented through repeated detections; or ▪ Surveillance thresholds established by the Districts indicate imminent adult emergence. • Use of ground and/or aerial application methods shall be determined by site accessibility, habitat type, and treatment efficiency as approved by the Districts. • Provide, maintain, and calibrate, as appropriate, larvicide application equipment (e.g., ground sprayers, backpack sprayers, aerial dispersal systems, etc.), GPS units, and vehicles or aircraft to conduct control activities promptly and accurately. • Use of EPA and State of Montana Department of Agriculture approved and registered larvicides labeled for public health mosquito control, including insect growth regulators (e.g., Methoprene) and biological larvicides (e.g., Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis). • Documentation and reporting shall include: ▪ GPS coordinates and locations of each treated site; ▪ Number of sites treated, dates, and product(s) used; ▪ Method of application (ground or aerial); and ▪ Surveillance data supporting treatment decisions.
