RFB-S10-209 - Runway Rubber Remover

Summary of Specifications:
INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Bids (RFB), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Airport Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit bids to provide the Wayne County Airport Authority with runway rubber remover compound, at both Detroit Metropolitan Airport (Group A) and Willow Run Airport (Group B) on an as-needed basis. GENERAL INFORMATION: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circular AC 150/5320-12C mandates that periodic inspections of the runway surface be made and if rubber buildup is excessive, removal should be initiated. The purpose of this contract is for a company to provide derubberizing compound to the Airport Authority, to be used by Airport Authority staff to remove the rubber deposits from various runways. The removal of rubber deposits shall be accomplished with a derubberizing compound specifically formulated and field-tested for this purpose. The Airport Authority uses approximately 8,250 gallons of runway rubber remover per year. IMPORTANT NOTE: Bidders proposing an equivalent runway rubber remover product other than Avion 50 or DC101 will be required to submit the proposed equivalent product at the Bidder’s expense.
