Summary of Specifications:
INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Proposals (RFP), the Wayne County Airport Authority (Authority) hereby invites businesses that meet the qualifications set forth herein to submit proposals for the maintenance and repair of non-commercial vehicle expansion joints at the McNamara Parking Structure located at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (Airport).
GENERAL INFORMATION: Expansion joints in the public driving areas of the McNamara Parking Garage at Detroit Metro Airport are subject to heavy wear from high traffic volumes and weather conditions. The joints, which are mechanical devices that allow garage segments to move without damaging the overall structure, require professional maintenance on regular intervals in order to operate properly.
The McNamara Parking Garage is a ten (10) level, 11,000 vehicle capacity, pre-cast concrete parking structure with 1,068 sections of expansion joints, and was opened for paid public parking in February 2002. There are several sliding plate type expansion joints located throughout each level of the parking structure.
This contract will provide preventative and corrective maintenance to the public driving area expansion joints. Weekly inspections and adjustments of all joints will be completed and any damage found during inspection, or problems reported by the Airport Authority, will be repaired.
Proposers are strongly encouraged to visit the site for the purpose of making themselves familiar with the facilities and will be solely responsible for site inspection and verification of work conditions prior to preparation and submission of a proposal. Refer to Attachment A for parking structure layout drawings.
