Summary of Specifications:
1) INTRODUCTION: Through this Request for Bids (RFB) the Wayne County Airport Authority is soliciting responses for construction and related engineering services required for bridge rehabilitation, roadway modifications and associated site work at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (Airport). 2) BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Airport Authority currently operates and maintains 23 bridges located at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). In order to maintain bridge integrity and a safe usage for vehicular traffic, the bridges are periodically inspected by an engineering consultant assigned by the Airport Authority for deficiencies and provide recommendations for rehabilitation and repair. During the latest course of these reviews, the assigned consultant determined bridge #13366 (Dingell Drive over airfield access roadway), bridge #13368 (Northern portion of Dingell Drive structure over the East Service Road), bridge #13369 (Dingell Drive over Southern portion of Dingell Drive structure over the East Service Road), bridge #13370 (Dingell Drive over Northbound Rogell Drive), and bridge #13374 (Dingell Drive over Eureka Road) would have to be rehabilitated in order to maintain their integrity. The consultant then prepared separate construction documents for each bridge rehabilitation to detail the scope of work to be provided. These three (3) separate construction documents are titled Rehabilitation of Structure No. 13366, Rehabilitation of Structure Nos. 13368, 13369 and 13370, and Rehabilitation of Structure No. 13374. The Scopes of Work for these structures are as follows: Bridge Structure #13366: Extensive rehabilitation of this structure is necessary to maintain its integrity. Work shall include, but not limited to, partial demolition of bridge decking, roadway surfaces, shoulders and barricades. Placement of new concrete structures including (but not limited to) decking, curbs, roadway and barricades. Other miscellaneous work shall include, but not be limited to, installation of new pavement markings, removal and replacement of security fencing, installation of traffic attenuators, temporary barricading, temporary fencing, temporary traffic control, and miscellaneous earthwork as the construction documents dictate. Bridge Structures #13368, #13369, #13370: Rehabilitation of these structures shall include, but not limited to, saw cutting joints, joint and crack clean out, removal and replacement of portions of reinforced concrete as well as all traffic control needed to complete the work. Bridge Structure #13374: Rehabilitation of this structure is necessary to maintain its integrity. Work shall include, but not limited to, partial demolition of bridge decking, roadway surfaces, and shoulders. Placement of new concrete structures including (but not limited to) decking, curbs and roadway. Other miscellaneous work shall include, but not be limited to, installation of new pavement markings, temporary traffic control, and miscellaneous earthwork as the construction documents dictate.
