Summary of Specifications:
Bids are being solicited for construction services to restore and repair lower levels of the Blue Deck Parking Structure (Structure) at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (Airport). This project includes installation of a bonded reinforced overlay, repair to isolated reinforced concrete frame elements, installation of deck coating, connector repairs, drain modifications, expansion joint repairs and related work. The project also includes repairs and restoration of the existing fire suppression standpipe system, repairs to architectural items including windows, doors and stairs, a new natural gas-fired emergency generator, and upgrades to the emergency lighting system.
The Blue Deck Parking Structure has approximately 5,500 parking spaces within its six (6) levels and is located off of Rogell Drive and adjacent to the L.C. Smith Terminal. The Authority has developed a multiple phase plan to complete the necessary repairs and improvements to the Blue Deck Parking Structure within three (3) years. Phase 1 included work required to restore and repair a majority of the roof levels of the Blue Deck. This first phase was divided into two (2) sub-phases, including one alternate. Phase 1A - West Deck involves work required to roof level 4 west deck. This work was completed during the summer and fall of 2006 and returned to full service. Phase 1B – East Deck repairs have commenced on the roof (level 6) and its ramps to and from level 5. The final segment of previously contracted work involved miscellaneous concrete plus joint restoration along with repairs and deck coating on west deck roof level 3. The successful bidder(s) on the proposed lower levels repairs and refitting work will be required to complete the restoration, repairs and improvements for the sub-phase(s) selected by the Authority
