The City of Grand Rapids is issuing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to obtain responses for demolition services, asbestos removal, and emergency securing services for buildings, which will satisfy the requirements as described in this RFQ. The City of Grand Rapids is seeking qualified, experienced, and licensed contractors with demonstrated skills and experience in providing services for the “as needed” demolition and removal of various buildings and/or structures, asbestos removal and for emergency securing services for buildings.
The City of Grand Rapids desires a one-year term contract with two, one-year renewal options for demolition services, asbestos removal, and emergency securing services, as specified in the bid document.
It is the desire of the City to identify qualified and experienced Contractors to provide demolition services (detailed in Section I) for various buildings and/or structures on an “as needed” basis for the City of Grand Rapids, to provide asbestos removal services (detailed in Section II), and to provide emergency securing services (detailed in Section III) for various buildings and/or structures on an “as needed” basis for the City of Grand Rapids. Please note that the emergency securing services is a 24/7 365 days a year service.
Bonding Requirements:
Prior to the issuance of a demolition permit, the applicant shall furnish the City a bond equal to the contract cost of the individual demolition. Any person, firm or corporation normally engaged in the demolition of buildings may provide a yearly bond to the City of Grand Rapids in the amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00), which shall cover all demolition bonds as heretofore required. Such bond shall be written by a surety qualified to do business in Michigan and both the surety and the bond are subject to the City's approval.
