8118 - COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE ACTION PLAN

Washtenaw County is seeking a consultant or consultants to assist County staff in work with community members, regional agencies, local units of government, non-profit entities, County staff, and other experts to develop a comprehensive, innovative, and accessible Climate Action Plan for both Washtenaw County as a community and for the County as an organization.  These plans would include data-driven strategies and actions and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, proposals for ways to prepare and prevent harm to those most vulnerable in our community and would be the basis for future decision making.
The primary deliverables expected from this project are three complementary but unique activities. These are:

1. Community Engagement: preparation, planning, and documentation for a series of meetings and interactions with county residents and stakeholders to engage residents in the process, build interest in the project, and to inform the plan and recommendations
2. Development of a Washtenaw County Community and Organizational Climate Action Plan: this plan would lay out the concrete steps needed to move from the current state to organizational carbon neutrality by 2030, and community carbon neutrality by 2035.
3. Recommendations: guidance for the County considering the staffing, financing, governance, and other implementation concerns necessary to carry out the work defined in the plan.
