This Request for Information (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Responses to the RFI will not be returned. Responses to this RFI are not an offer and cannot be accepted by MTA to form a binding contract. MTA is not liable for any cost incurred by the vendor in response to this RFI.
PURPOSE AND GOALS OF THE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
MTA is conducting an RFI regarding Autonomous, On-Demand Ride Services and Strategic Partnerships to Advance Mobility Solutions in Genesee County and the Greater Flint Area. This RFI does not constitute a solicitation process but is instead to obtain information that will help the agency determine assumptions, possibilities, and interest moving forward. Responding to the RFI does not prevent participation in other current or future RFI/RFP/RFQ opportunities issued by MTA.
As MTA seeks to create and execute a comprehensive mobility plan, this RFI gives vendors the opportunity to share information about their mobility services and solutions, especially those involving autonomous vehicle technologies. Through this RFI, we aim to gain a broader and deeper understanding of available services, solutions, and products, including autonomous transit options. This process will help us better evaluate potential implementation strategies and partnership opportunities while also identifying any technical, operational, or regulatory constraints associated with autonomous vehicle deployment.
OBJECTIVES
MTA vision is one that is committed to advancing an integrated, connected, and multi-modal mobility network that provides affordable, equitable, and accessible mobility options for all users. Central to this vision is a focus on inclusive service delivery—providing mobility solutions that meet the needs of unbanked individuals, people with limited access to technology, and non-English-speaking populations—while also reducing barriers to employment, healthcare, and education.
The Autonomous Vehicle Transportation Services RFI is designed to advance this vision through piloting, testing, and evaluation of innovative mobility solutions, including the deployment of autonomous vehicles (AVs). These technologies represent the backbone of a future-ready, shared-use mobility network. As such, this effort seeks to integrate AV solutions into both current and future service offerings, with the aim of delivering an unified and seamless experience for users.
