002395 - Young Adult Group

Summary of Specifications:
Purpose: The Oakland County Purchasing Division in conjunction with Oakland County Community Corrections is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to obtain sealed bid proposal responses for facilitation of a Young Adult Male Group, which will satisfy the requirements described in this RFP. The successful bidder(s) will be required to provide group facilitators and group content for the populations detailed below: 

Males (ages 17-24) in the criminal justice system: The need for evidence-based practices is especially great for 17-24 year old offenders. The barriers facing these young adults in the criminal justice system are exacerbated by the limited availability or lack of developmentally appropriate services in many areas. While 17-24 year olds are legally adults they are in many ways still adolescents developmentally. Major changes are occurring in the brain of the young adult, changes that result in increased risk taking and an intensity of emotion. 

The clients are court referred individuals primarily from an urban setting that often come from unsafe and unhealthy environments, gang involvement, dysfunctional family situations and multi-generational substance abuse. 

The Young Adult Male group will be held at a minimum of one time per week in two sites (Pontiac and Troy). The group’s capacity will be 12 participants.
