Summary of Specifications:
Oakland County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) is seeking a comprehensive Vegetation Removal Services Contract to provide service at each of its 13 parks. OCPR parks are located in within 15 geographic townships in Oakland County, and comprise over 6700 acres in 5 different watersheds. Land use and operations vary from undeveloped park natural areas and rural recreational trails, to high-volume, high-use public campgrounds, waterparks, and golf courses. As part of the Oakland County Park & Recreation Commission’s (OCPRC) Strategic Planning Objectives for Natural Resource Management of park lands, OCPR Staff have developed a program for the removal of invasive plant species within natural areas of the park lands. In addition, OCPR currently maintains over 65 miles of trail, and is currently implementing the installation of approximately 8 additional miles of trail which will require vegetative management. Finally, daily and annual events such as weather, forestry pest/ disease impacts, and natural mortality present a need for a comprehensive approach, and access to, vegetative removal services.
The comprehensive Vegetation Removal Services Contract will serve 5 main purposes:
1. Facilitate removal of large brush piles from maintenance yards 2. Perform fence line clearing on park properties 3. Assist with trails clearing and maintenance practices 4. Assist with invasive species removal projects 5. Assist with vegetation removal related to park development/ construction projects
OCPRC anticipates awarding a 1 year, renewable contract up to 3 years.
