Summary of Specifications:
The proposed contract shall consist of providing all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, supervision, etc. to plant, maintain and remove specific designated annuals and perennials within the planting beds contained on the County campus of Oakland County, Michigan. The work in general will include soil testing (greenhouse test) of all annual beds to be planted. Bed prep of annual beds will consist of re-establishing bed edges along turf area beds, tilling of soil, adding soil and amendments (perlite, vermiculite, compost) or other industry accepted amendments, and slow release fertilizer, pre-emergent herbicides, then the purchase and planting of annual flowers, all in accordance with the soil test. After planting, general care for the flowers and the beds, will include: weeding (manual, mechanical, cultivation) of the beds, dead-heading of the flowers, hand watering of design areas with a balanced water soluble fertilizer, again based upon results of soil test at least twice a month in June, and replacement of dead or dying flowers. Removal of annuals in the fall.
General care of perennials and perennial beds: Apply a fertilizer in the spring, pre-emergent herbicides and post emergent herbicides where applicable, weeding of beds through manual or mechanical cultivation, splitting of perennials as needed, removal of stalks once flowers have died off, and removal of die-back in the fall.
