2023-5 - Grand Blanc Township - Splash Pad Demolition

The Charter Township of Grand Blanc is seeking a qualified contractor to demolish the Splash Pad at Creasey Bicentennial Park.  The Splash Pad consists of approximately 4000 Sq Ft of concrete and numerous metal structures and fountains (see photos for details).

Demolition will include:
• Removal and disposal of all components of the splash pad (metal fountains and structures, concrete pad, underground plumbing)
• Removal and disposal of plumbing control vault. 
• Capping of the water supply line a few feet outside of the control vault.
• Capping of the drain tile a few feet outside of the footprint of the Splash Pad.
• Site grading to provide sufficient drainage without ponding of any kind
• Site restoration including vegetation establishment

Specifications:
Once demolition is complete, the contractor shall provide a finish grade to the site.  Some fill dirt is available on site at Creasey Bicentennial Park; the exact quantity of the fill dirt is unknown.  Contractor can estimate the amount of fill dirt on site during the site walk on October 19th.  Survey grade equipment shall be used to make sure sufficient slope is provided and the site is free of areas that will hold water later. Top soil may be needed in some areas as agreed upon by the contractor and the Township. Once the site is graded, grass seed shall be planted with straw (matting, blown, or manually spread) to help retain moisture. Hydroseeding will not be accepted.

Safety: The contractor shall provide the Township a copy of their safety plan. The site shall be keep secure during off construction hours if demolition of the structure will take longer than one day. Any debris from demolition left while not attended shall appear as orderly as possible and fenced off with orange snow fence. All equipment left on the property shall be left in an orderly fashion and kept secure at all times.

Payments: This is a two pay project. After completion of the project, the contractor shall submit to the Township a pay application. The pay application will be for the entire amount of the project less 10% retainage which will be paid after vegetation has been established. Once the vegetation meets the Townships satisfaction, a separate pay application shall be submitted for that amount.

Utilities: Water supply line and drain tile will need to be capped outside of the footprint of the splash pad.  Water supply line has already been disconnected from the well.

Deadline: The demolition work shall be completed on or before December 22nd, 2023 and shall be coordinated with the Parks and Recreation Department around the Park Events Schedule.
Vegetation shall be established by June 30th, 2024.
