Summary of Specifications:
Crew shall consist of two (2) members only, (driver and machine operator). Machine operator shall have sufficient training and experience to place materials with a minimum amount of over spray and loss of materials. Operator shall be able to control the aggregate and emulsion mix so as to assure a high quality, long lasting repair. Operator must also understand complete function of the equipment, so he can troubleshoot minor problems in the field such as insufficient emulsion, lack of aggregate, plugged hose, etc. All areas of repair are to be blown clean of dust and debris by the patching machine. The operator will then apply a thin tack coat of hot emulsion to the area to be repaired. The area will then be repaired with a spray of mixed aggregate (1/4” down) and hot emulsion heated to a temperature between 120 - 150 under high volume (300-400 CFM) and low pressure (12-15 PSI) air, completely filling the cracks and holes from the bottom up. The air will compact the material sufficiently enough to allow immediate access to traffic without distortion of patched area. A thin layer of dry aggregate will then be placed over the repaired area. The machine will be totally self-contained on a trailer with integral hopper for aggregate or trailer mounted unit with the aggregate feed from towing truck.
